
Nick Carter
Currently a Senior Advisor with FTI Consulting undertaking a range of utility-based projects in the Middle East Region, especially in the UAE where he lives and works.
He came to Abu Dhabi to unbundle the power and water sector in 1998 and was subsequently appointed Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company which he corporatized, creating the largest distribution company in the UAE. Further roles included that of Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Regulation and Supervision Bureau (now part of the Department of Energy) where he issued the first network price-controls in the MENA Region. He left the Bureau in 2015 and joined Baringa Partners LLP as a Director and then as a Senior Advisor to PwC. Prior to coming to the UAE, he held a number of senior executive positions with Southern Electric PLC (now SSE) and London Electricity PLC (Now part of UK Power Networks). In London Electricity he played a pivotal role as Strategy Manager during privatisation in the early 90s and was subsequently appointed General Manager for Networks. Nick is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a member of the UK Engineering Council. Educated at University College London with a BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and at INSEAD and London Business School.
