Dr. Alexandra Papadopoulou

Alexandra Papadopoulou is a Chemical Engineer with a M.Sc in Energy Production and Management and a PhD on “Decision Support Systems promoting energy efficiency in the modern energy sector”.

She is highly familiarized with the energy and climate planning context at the local / regional and national level and the energy efficiency tools (market, legislative, institutional and technical) and policies on a European level. She has in depth knowledge of the related to the Covenant of Mayors procedures, such as development of Baseline Emission Inventories (BEIs), Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans and Monitoring Reports, while she has closely worked with numerous municipalities for the preparation of their SEAPs/ SECAPs and the selection of appropriate climate adaptation actions. Within this framework, she has extensive experience on data collection strategies and approaches regarding the development of BEIs, as well as national energy balances. Moreover, she is a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and is highly literate, as regards the financing mechanisms available for energy efficiency projects (TPF, BOT, ESCOs).

Dr. Papadopoulou has 16 years of working and research experience in the energy and climate sector, while she has a strong management background over 11 years through her engagement as Project Manager in a series of national and European projects. In the above mentioned fields, she has more than 40 scientific publications in international journals with reviewers, announcements in international conferences and chapters in books.
