About Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEITH)
The Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEITH) is the 4th largest Higher Education Institute in Greece with an enrolment of more than 18,500 students. Established in 1983, today it comprises of 4 Schools, namely the School of Technological Applications, the School of Management & Economy, the School of Health and Care Professions and the School of Agriculture & Food Technology and Nutrition, with a total of 17 departments, and 28 research laboratories. Its personnel includes 256 faculty members, 75 lecturers on a contract basis, 46 technical laboratory staff members, and 142 administrative staff employees.
ATEITH also offers a number of postgraduate degree programmes leading to the M.Sc. degree. The postgraduate degree programmes are offered by various departments, or are jointly offered with departments of other Higher Education Institutes.
ATEITH operates in a picturesque campus, situated in Sindos, a few kilometers west of the metropolitan city of Thessaloniki, Greece’s 2nd largest city, with frequent and easily accessible transport services and is strategically located in the vicinity of the Industrial Zone of Thessaloniki. Its campus covers a total of 1.600 acres, with more than 1.000 acres being facilities like farms, greenhouses, stables etc.
ATEITH has been externally evaluated recently (2015), whereas all of its Departments have been externally evaluated within the last five years. In addition, a Quality Assurance Unit, established in 2008, oversees the internal evaluation procedures of the Institute. According to the “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” (2015), ATEITH ranks in the top 20 of all Greek National Higher Educational Institutes and 2nd among the National Technological Educational Institutes.
ATEITH’s educational mission is to cover fields of Applied Sciences in all sectors of economy (primary, secondary and tertiary) and has thus developed close ties with all relevant stakeholders including among others major Professional Organizations, Associations and Chambers at a regional and national level.
ATEITH has a significant research record and actively participates in a number of national, European Union, and International research programmes, over a broad range of subjects related to the various disciplines covered by its Departments. Furthermore, it has recently joined the “EURAXESS-Researchers in Motion” pan-European network, being the 1st Greek Technological Educational Institute to do so.
ATEITH also quite often organizes conferences, events, and activities, to strengthen its links with the society, the industrial stakeholders, and the city of Thessaloniki.
